Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

These Terms govern access to and use of CM Academy, a CareMedox educational platform operated in connection with CareMedox LLC ("CareMedox," "CM Academy," "we," "us," or "our").

By accessing or using CM Academy, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Academy.

2. Educational Purpose

CM Academy provides educational content concerning medical billing, healthcare revenue cycle operations, insurance concepts, coding fundamentals, payer workflows, and related subjects.

Academy content is not a substitute for current payer policies, official CMS/Medicare/Medicaid instructions, current coding manuals or licensed coding resources, legal/compliance advice, tax/financial advice, clinical/medical advice, employer-specific policies, professional judgment, or contract-specific guidance.

Healthcare billing rules change. Users are responsible for verifying current requirements before applying educational information to actual claims, authorizations, patient accounts, or compliance decisions.

3. Eligibility and Accounts

You may use CM Academy only if you can lawfully agree to these Terms under laws applicable to you. If you are below the age at which you can independently consent to an online service in your location, use should occur only with appropriate parent/guardian involvement where required.

Some features may require an account. You agree to provide reasonably accurate registration information, keep credentials confidential, not use another person's account without authorization, notify us of suspected compromise, and use the account lawfully.

4. Courses and Learning Content

CM Academy aims to make core educational material widely accessible. Course availability, lesson sequence, features, assessments, and formats may change.

A course listed as planned, upcoming, "coming soon," or in development is not guaranteed to launch on a specific date. We may add/remove lessons, correct errors, update outdated material, reorganize courses, modify functions, suspend features, or retire obsolete content.

If a future optional paid feature, examination, certificate, service, or product is introduced, applicable fees should be disclosed before purchase.

5. Certificates, Assessments, and Completion Records

CM Academy may offer assessments, scores, completion records, certificates, badges, or other educational recognition.

Unless a specific program expressly states otherwise, these represent participation, completion, or performance within CM Academy. They are not state/federal licenses, academic degrees, or automatically equivalent to credentials from independent certification bodies. They do not authorize regulated activities or guarantee employment, advancement, compensation, or employer acceptance.

6. No Employment or Client Relationship

Using CM Academy does not create employment, an internship, contractor relationship, referral relationship, medical billing services agreement, partnership, agency relationship, or guaranteed job consideration with CareMedox. Any such relationship requires a separate process/agreement.

7. User Content

CM Academy may allow questions, comments, replies, community posts, attachments, profile information, feedback, or other content ("User Content"). You remain responsible for content you submit and represent that you have the right to submit it.

For content intended for publication/community interaction, you grant CM Academy a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, and otherwise use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, moderate, improve, and provide the relevant feature. This does not transfer ownership of your original content.

9. Moderation

CM Academy may, but is not obligated to, review User Content. We may remove, hide, restrict, or preserve content/account information for security review when reasonably necessary to enforce Terms, protect users, remove spam, address abuse, protect confidential information, reduce misinformation risk, respond to complaints/legal requests, or maintain educational quality.

Moderation does not mean CM Academy endorses all visible User Content.

10. Attachments and Downloads

Where attachments are allowed, users must have the right to upload the file and must not include prohibited information. Do not upload patient records, unredacted claims/EOBs/ERAs, confidential client files, proprietary course books/code sets without permission, executable malware, or similar material.

Users download community attachments at their own discretion. CM Academy cannot guarantee that every user-submitted file is accurate, complete, or free from security risk.

11. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, original CM Academy website design, educational explanations, graphics, branding, course structure, and Academy-created materials are owned by or licensed to CareMedox and protected by applicable law.

Academy material may be used for personal learning and other uses permitted by law/us. Without permission, do not republish complete courses as your own, sell copied lessons, systematically reproduce substantial protected portions, remove ownership notices, impersonate CM Academy, or misuse its branding.

Medical coding systems, payer names, government program names, trademarks, software names, and third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners.

12. Automated Access and Invalid Traffic

You may not use bots, scripts, automated tools, or other methods to disrupt the site, bypass access controls, create fake traffic, generate invalid ad impressions/clicks, create bulk fake accounts, harvest user data, copy protected content unlawfully, or exploit security vulnerabilities without authorization. Normal authorized search-engine crawling is not prohibited.

13. Advertising and Third-Party Links

CM Academy may display advertising, sponsored material, or other third-party commercial content. Advertising does not automatically constitute endorsement by CM Academy. Users must not intentionally click advertisements to generate Academy revenue or encourage others to do so. Artificial, incentivized, or invalid ad activity is prohibited.

Links to government resources, payers, professional organizations, software providers, CareMedox.com, or other sites may be provided for convenience/reference. We do not control independent third-party content, security, availability, policies, or practices.

14. Availability, Corrections, and Updates

We do not guarantee uninterrupted/error-free access. Site/features may be unavailable for maintenance, updates, hosting/security incidents, vendor outages, legal requirements, or circumstances beyond reasonable control.

We may correct factual, technical, typographical, instructional, or policy-related errors at any time. Because healthcare billing changes, older lessons may be updated, replaced, or removed.

15. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, CM Academy/content are provided "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant that every lesson is complete for every payer/state/specialty/scenario; every code/policy/amount/deadline will remain current; use will result in payment/authorization; users will avoid denials/audits/recoupments; content will meet an employer's requirements; course completion will result in employment/third-party certification; or the website will always operate without interruption/error.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, CareMedox and CM Academy will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of the Academy, reliance on educational content, third-party sites, community content, or inability to use the site. Nothing limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

16. Suspension, Changes, Governing Law, and Contact

We may suspend/terminate account or feature access when reasonably necessary because of serious/repeated Terms violations, fraud, spam, security abuse, harmful conduct, unauthorized access, illegal activity, or threats to users/systems.

We may update these Terms as CM Academy develops. The current version will display an updated date. These Terms are governed by applicable U.S. federal law and, where state law applies, the laws of the State of Wyoming, except where applicable consumer law requires otherwise.
